How to reduce theft and cash loss in your shop

Most losses are small, repeated and unnoticed. The cure is not more suspicion; it is a few habits that make loss visible.

Give every cashier their own login

When everyone shares one login, nobody is responsible. Separate logins let you see who rang up what.

Count the till at the start and end of every shift

Record the opening cash and the closing cash. The difference against the day’s cash sales should be close to zero.

Limit what a cashier can do

Only a manager should be able to give big discounts, cancel sales or change prices. Set roles so the cashier can sell and nothing more.

Review returns and discounts

A cashier who gives unusual discounts or processes many returns deserves a conversation. Check the daily report by cashier.

Compare stock to sales

If stock falls faster than sales, items are leaving without being rung up. A weekly count of your top items finds it early.

Try it in your own shop

Set up in minutes on the phone or laptop you already have. No transaction fees.
